When I was regularly flying to TYR in 2005-early 2007, they had a restaurant in that space. However, it was open very limited hours, and usually closed by 4:00 PM. I would have given them some evening business when flying home on the 7:00 PM flight to IAH, but they were never open that late.
At airports that small, operating a food and beverage business and making even a small profit has got to be a challenge. All the traffic is origin/destination, and people know they can show up 45 minutes before departure, check a bag, sit around 10 minutes waiting for security to open, clear security, and board the plane. You don't have a lot of people waiting around the airport, which is what it takes for a restaurant or bar in the terminal to really be successful.
Other than the closed restaurant space, TYR really is one of the nicest small town airports I've ever seen.
