Just because something is free in C doesn’t mean they will upgrade you.

Assuming you have no status with Matmid there would likely to be many passengers on the list before you.
Including Platinum, Gold, and Silver card holders, and those who bought fully flexible tickets.

Not to mention the fact that you need a minimum number of Matmid point earned in the past 12 months to be eligible for an upgrade.
Also, not all semi flexible ticket are eligible for last minute upgrades.


There are times when you can buy an on board upgrade but someone else here would probably know more then I about that
