Good point, might work if you had one of the passports allowed this visa exception (US passport is one of them). It works to/from SHA as well as PVG, I think. So far, I haven't heard of any extensions to the 48 hours for the expo. But if they extended it to, say, 96 hours it would be even useful for a business trip.
