In theory, you could fly HKG-PVG-XXX and take advantage of 48 hour visa free transit (which might get extended during Expo). Also, in the unlikely event you happen to have a passport from a country that has a visa waiver agreement with China (Japan is the only one that comes to mind), you'll be good to go as well.
