TSO Ron defends the technology of the Magic Paper Wands over in "Just Say No" thread:

Chemical test strips are a proven technology. I use them in not only my work but also at home in my fish tanks. Been using them for more than 20 years, so I have a fair understanding on how they work and how well. I will continue to depend on my experience and training concerning these rather than the dubious opinions of the home chemists here.
