Hi all,
I've got a 10 day (2 weekends and the week between) trip planned for Brazil in late May to see some very distant relatives, but they'll be working during the week and I'm trying to decide the best place to visit during that time. I'm flying into Sao Paulo and the family is about 3 hours inland in SP state.
I have considered Rio, but am tempted to save it for the next trip and would do it with the family at an event time--either carnival or the olympics.

Does anyone have any suggestions for location(s) to spend a few days that aren't impossibly distant by bus or tough/super expensive to get to by air (which another US family member suggested I not try to do).
