+1 for Matchbox, though IIRC they do not take reservations. Also in that neck of the woods, Ella's (9th between F and G NW) has a good pizza. Ella's also has a $5 individual pizza and 1/2 price draughts deal during happy hour from 5-7pm on weekdays. A bit further away, Pete's New Haven Apizza (right by Columbia Heights Metro Station) has my favourite pizza in DC and also great fresh salads and home-made desserts, and an extensive beer menu (draught and bottle).

For a town decidedly lacking in quality pizza, there do happen to be a few bright diamonds hidden in the rough...
