I used a Diamond Suite upgrade at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco as well. They gave me the Governor's Suite. Located on the top floor, with a stunning view of the city, and the Bay. This is the only suite in the hotel that had not been renovated.
. I was told by the hotel it's the best suite in the house. They only give it to VIPs.
I must say the balcony in this suite was awesome. Top floor, large enough to hold a party of 20, with one of the best views of the city.

6. Incompetent FD agent initially assigned regency club room. I emphasized that the suite upgrade had been confirmed by Diamond line. I was given room 840 (non-RC floor, and it was a SMOKING room!
). They claimed no other room is available. I thought once the upgrade is confirmed by diamond line the room is supposed to be pre-blocked?!
The room itself is fine. It has a separate parlor/living room with 40+" TV, a huge balcony. It has a jacuzzi-type bath with window overlooking the buildings on Market street.
RC lounge is huge. I had to catch an 8:30am flight out of SFO and the lounge isn't open until 7 on Sundays for breakfast, so they gave me a voucher for full breakfast downstairs which includes everything including gratuity.
