Those hotels are far from top end properties and some of them can be booked under $100 USD. Many hotels will jump 2 categories.
But if that were the case, then redemption with current Category 6 pointage wouldn't be worth it either.

The ones that really hurt are the $175-$250/night properties that moved up a category. They are worth considering as reward nights, but as a Cat 7 v. $250/night it's extortion either way...
