I think $2 is really the minimum (my suggestion would be at least $2 cash + round up the fare to the next dollar).

Depends on how much you enjoy walking or what time of year it is In the middle of summer, you do not want to walk from the Venetian to the Luxor.

The maps make everything seem pretty close together. But remember that each casino is HUGE, and so it'll be a long walk from one to another.

You should consider the LV Monorail if you're taking a lot of trips up and down the strip. The closest station to the Venetian is between Harrah's & Imperial Palace. Or look into The Bus (I think those trips are pretty cheap).
