It seems it is just this new inspector that they have hired. Back then, the inspector was on staff. Now they are sub-contracted and it seems they just don't give a damn, and make it a mission to simply pi$$ off all the homeowners and contractors in town simply because they can and they know they have us by the short and curlies...
If he's contracted out it might not be bad to complain to the town since they can demand better service as the insepctor is not living up to the expected standards the town expects and is not keeping current on building trends. This foundation system is hardly new anymore. Check with your GC first though.
