A few days agao I tried to price, using the multi engine tool, a flight from MEL-PVG and return from SIN-MEL (own arrangements in between).
The multi-engine tool allowed me to select MEL-PVG, but for the next sector only allowed selection from Jakarta, Mumbai, Manila, Seoul, Bangkok and Shanghai. Singapore was greyed out.
Call to QF got me the price for the flight (ex SIN) but was told 'there will be a $60 booking fee'.
I mentioned the on-line tool would not allow me to do it and the response was 'you can't expect the on-line tool to do any flight you want... and if the functionality is not there then you have to pay for assistance'.
I certainly was not on line with a premium agent, and if I had needed to make the booking (rather than just get a price) I would have pushed the point. Silly than a single city would be unavailable, especially as it is a major gateway.
In cases such as this wouldn't it just be easier to use a good Travel Agent? I have one that would have booked all that for me, no fee, and at the published QF fares (where QF flights were taken).
When I say good Travel Agent, it's a small independent one. FC and the like I would not touch.
