I was comped Platinum last year (and should have it through all of 2010) and ended the year with 48 nights. When does that number go back down to 0? Will I get to carry over 38 nights?

If you were comped Plat all the way through to 2010 (actually 2/11) then NO your 38 nights won't roll over -- the only nights which roll over are the nights above your current level -- for you that would have been any nights over 75.
MR resets everything to 0 within the first week or 2 of the new year.
