Below are what I wrote in last year's thread and yesterday in this thread.... how wrong could I have been on my 2009 flying activities....

Personally, I am way down. I don't think I will do the 110+ BIS full fare flights and the 250K+ travel I did in 2008.

It is strange that I will make 1K by the first weekend in June with only 2 1/2 roundtrips on UA. One cheapo transpac RT to earn DEQM and one full fare C RT for work will net me over 50 (triple EQM). Not sure what to make the easy path to 1K this year. If I am lucky, I may have 50K BIS in B fare or above to hopefully quailfy to GS next year.

When: No significant activities in Q1, made 1K in Q2 (with DEQM), requalified GS and crossed 300K EQM in Q4.

How: A lot of work travels this year on *A (reason for being late in requalifying for GS). All UA travels have come from Transpac fligts for work and personal trips. Many intra-China Air China flights, and rounded up the activities with OZ, TG and SQ for intra-Asia travel, and LH/LX for flights to/from Europe.

Where: PEK, SHA, CAN, SZX, CGO, TAO, KWE, NKG, HKG, TPE, SEL, NRT, SIN, ZRH, FRA, MUC, SEA, SFO, ORD, IAD, DCA, PBI, MIA, JFK, LGA, MEX.

Why: GS perks are great. United is still the airlines that meet most of my travel needs (except S. Florida), and Star Alliance is the best!!!

What: I expect my travel will increase in 2010. More Asia-Europe travels on LH/SAS/LX, and intra-Asia travels on SQ/NH. Not too sure about UA activities yet but should requalify for GS by year-end. I am blessed with my employer still pays for premium cabins for flights over 4 hours, and 80% of my travels will be work related.
