What I would do, and have done in this situation - I would just call the snorer's room instead of banging on the door. It wakes them up, stops the snoring, and avoids confrontations.

I only need you to stop snoring long enough for ME to fall asleep. Once I'm asleep, you can snore to your hearts content.
