I am a platinum elite going to Las Vegas with my wife for New Years. We originally booked coach tickets and I was instantly bumped to first class because it was a platinum upgrade fare. The Elite desk told me that my wife might get upgraded at the airport (companion upgrade) but that she would have better odds if I used 15,000 miles (each way so 30k total) from my account to upgrade her. Can anyone tell me if thats really true or if her odds are the same ? If I use miles when would she likely clear if she is going to get the upgrade. Thanks in advance for the help.
