Indeed, my employer is very good on that score. A few years ago, we hired my then partner (now spouse) as an interpreter on a group trip that also included me. It was made explicitly clear to us that we were entitled to our own separate rooms as much as anyone else, if we so chose.
Even better would be if they offered you separate rooms or an upgraded (to something that cost less than two rooms) shared room.
