Northbound is to prefer for the reasons that are mentioned above.

I have been traveling more than 20 times on shorter trips on hutigruten for transport prupoes. All the ships generations considered, and I prefer the ship MS Finnmarken.
It is not really a ship that is in one generation.. It stand out, like MS Fram I would say(without been on MS Fram). IMHO it is the ship that are a looker, except the really old one.
