They never ask for my card... So maybe I am the exception. Also when I got promoted to BA Gold 'en route' I was immediately granted access to all Flounges without a shiny gold card. I have heard other stories though.

I have never been refused access to any OW Floung with the exception of the Concorde Club at T5 (where you can only get in when Flying F on BA).

I can use BA lounges all over the world even when flying non OW airlines.
