It's difficult to go into detail without inviting heated discussion, but the hotel did multiple small and medium things wrong during my stay. I also spotted a few signs of deferred maintenance.
Everyone in the hotel is willing to verbally apologize at the drop of a hat, but it's just words to them. They won't change procedures so that the problem doesn't recur. No apology fruit bowls either, those cost money!
This is so different than the service ethic I've seen at other FS hotels that I believe that the ownership fight involving this hotel (along with a few other FS hotels) could well be one possible cause. If so, it will eventually pass.
