Let me clarify further. You surf the internet, found a rate for the same date, same room type, same hotel but cheaper than the original. Throughout your reservation process, the site leads to a Starwood website before it is finalised.
Correct me if I am wrong. Would this still be a booking via a third party site in the end? Does this mean that Starwood should not advertise through sites like these? Is it considered cheating that in order to work with travel sites from our vendors, there might be a contract that in order to attract more traffic to the site, certain rates are given discount?
You can at this moment contact the property directly and provide your comments that you found out that there is a cheaper rate at certain websites and request them to charge you at the lower rate. No guarantees but no harm trying either.
