I don't understand why you keep getting confused. No one mentioned Photoshop except for you, in this thread. When I mentioned version 3, it was Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 that I was referring to. Why do you keep think that someone other than you is talking about Photshop? Get it out of your head, no one except you is talking Photoshop!
We are NOT talking about regular Photoshop. This is the consumer "lite" version called Photoshop
Elements which is version 8 ( as in number
eight) - see Adobe's website:

Adobe Photoshop Elements is vastly different from the regular Adobe Photoshop, cs4 or whatever. It's not as good of a product, incredibly bloated and inefficient at what it does. And by your post, sounds like you have never ever used it or even heard of it.
