It might be a bit different in other (strange) countries like Germany, where they simply and routinely ask you to see the credit card again (which they are not only entitled to by the CC rules but maybe even obligated to to secure payment to the hotel). However, I do know the US is different. I do not know about Singapore but I would expect them to be a bit more formal.
