Wow, you were able to find this out. I asked the FA and she said all she knows is there was a problem and it was fixed.
Just wondering, if the smell didn't get into the aircraft and nobody notices it what would of happened? Engine fire? Plane explosion? Sounds scary.
Oh, one more thing, the ground mechanic originally say it's just "burn plastic" and there's nothing to worry about (he talked to the FA crew and the pilot), but it was the pilot that insists a more thorought check and claim that the airplane was shaking abnormally during take-off.
If smell did not get into the aircraft... the pilot will learn about it from the higher than normal engine oil consumption of that engine.. so no explosion or engine fire or anything as dramatic as what you think it might or might not happen.
