Same. Pickup/dropoff was in Manhattan (43rd and 3rd). Showed the guy gas receipt when dropping off, but he literally could not get the <75 mile fuel surcharge removed, even though he indicated I had filled up. Told me I had to go inside to have the agent at the counter fix the erroneous charge.
I did not have to show anything but I did have it in my hand just in case. I never try to fix anything at the drop off site; I alway head to the CS counter because I perfer to deal with managers about billing errors.
Two weeks ago I rented again with Avis and only drove about 57 miles. I was NOT charged extra this time.
I also must add that my Avis profile states that I will always bring the car back full.
