It'd be hard to make that case for IFE. Nobody really makes a ticket purchase decision based on IFE. Anybody who cares that much about cinema or music is bringing their own content. There are only a handful of carriers in the world who offer any kind of remotely 21st -century solution and they aren't UA's head-to-head competitors.
I'm simply rather UA spend the money on something else if they spend it at all.
If you classify WiFi and Satellite TV as IFE, then yes, you bet people make decisions based upon IFE. I have road warrior friends who will first look for B6 and VX flights, and only after exhausting those will they try UA (and this is even out of SFO!). The Wi-Fi and TV are big selling points.
