As regards the OP, I found Bangkok extremely overrated. Seedy, hot, sticky and downright unconfortable.

I'm not sure if Dublin is in the top tier or not, but I found it very VERY overrated as well. It was all tatty shops and dark, crowded, crappy and overpriced bars. Not my scene at all.

They can't say they didn't warn me about Caracas.

I'd love to start a thread about most underrated major city. I can think of a few.
Thats the problems. If you avoid Times Square and the area around Madison Square Garden then NYC is charming and not so crowded. Tell me what area aroud Central Park, Battery Park or the Village is crowded (This is a good chunk of the city)?
