British Airways and Eastern Air Lines were the launch customers for the Boeing 757. The first one was delivered to Eastern in December 1982. British Airways got their first 757 in March 1983.

United Airlines didn't receive their first Boeing 757 until August 1989. It was line number 241 which means 240 Boeing 757's were produced before United's first one (N501UA). United was hardly a "launch" customer for the 757. United Airlines was the launch customer for the Boeing 727-100, Boeing 727-200, Boeing 737-200, and Boeing 767-200 as well as the Douglas DC-10.
