When I was pulled aside and patted down by a big sweaty TSA goon here in TUS, my ops agent buddy didn't stop boarding. He basically said "oh well."
To thwart this "random" screening bull, I plan on keeping an eye on the TSA agents until they're busy bothering other people. That seemed to work many years ago when this stupid nonsense was going on.
In SAN, I've seen them go through the line and frisk every single passenger. On a full, delayed flight. Even the last minute runners were patted down. FWIW, I've yet to see a TSA gate grope on any airline in Seattle or Portland.
