The OP did not receive an upgrade for SEA->OGG because NW and DL do not give free upgrades to Hawaii, period. Normally only in the case of an oversell will Plats find themselves upgraded for free to the front of the bus. Clearly this was not an oversell if upgrades were selling for $150. The OP asked for an upgrade and was declined. This means absolutely nothing in terms of this thread and NW elites being second class on DL. The OP had every right to pay $150 x 6 to ride up front if they wanted to (and assuming the flight had 6 open seats up front).

The 6 upgrades were op ups because Y was oversold. No rules stretched here, this is normal procedure followed to the letter.
We regard to SEA-OGG, we don't have enough info. Were DL elites actually being given free upgrades?
natas43 didn't say. If they were, then there's an issue because the same favor should have been extended to NW elites.
Lacking evidence to the contrary, I'd assume the DL GA just made a poor choice of words ("This is a Delta flight, so we are not offering upgrades to Northwest Elite members") and probably was not giving free upgrades to anyone.
