One of my recent flights was subjected to an ID check at the gate. As the TSO's approached the boarding queues, I was somewhat disgusted to see all the sheeple who were so ready and willing to dig out and present their ID's without even being asked (I could almost hear the balalaikas ringing out, is this what is was like to board Aeroflot in Kiev back in 1955?).

The guy asked me if I had ID. I said "Yes."
He asked if he could see it. I replied, "It's in my wallet." and sorta smirked and did a .
He seemed sorta embarrassed and asked, "Can I see it?" I sighed and showed it to him without taking it out of the wallet (purely in the interest of not risking losing out on my precious 1C or 1D).
Without making eye contact, he said thanks and moved on.
