One Soap, Now no Newspaper?
I am staying at the Sheraton Tech Center in Denver. This morning at 6am I look for a newspaper at my door, there isn’t one so call I called:
Me: Did newspapers not get delivered yet, or did I get missed?
Front Desk: We don’t deliver them, we have them at the front desk if you want to come and get one.
Me: Can you send one up?
Front Desk: I guess.
Me: OK
The exact words were “I guess”. I can see how they don’t want to deliver newspapers if people don’t use them, but when I call to inquire about it I really don’t expect “I guess”, I would expect, we don’t deliver them now as not everyone reads them, but I’ll have one sent up to you right away.
The other day at the Four Points in Denver I never had one either, is that the new direction as the second bar of soap, on request only? I never called in that case.
I really can see how less newspapers are “green” and oh yes save money, but I for one like mine and read it. At a minimum I don’t expect an “I guess” when it comes to a request to get one. Or upon check in, would you like a newspaper in the morning?
This is a newspaper discussion, not a soap discussion, but there are two bars of soap in my bathroom, and no newspaper at the door. I really expect consistency from Starwood, they shouldn’t be hiding what they do and don’t do, yes a Four Points, Sheraton, Westin, etc. do different things, but within the same brand please be consistent and let us know what you do and what you don’t.
