Is there many border patrol checkpoint in or en route to Albuquerque in I-40? If there is more than 2, I would be better off flying, save me time and agitation.
I have traveled on I-40 many times between St. Louis and LA. There are no
La Migra checkpoints.
I am not hispanic, but I despise
La Migra as much as you do. They actually told me once at one of their checkpoints that if I do not have my passport with me, they could detain me indefinitely, even though I am a US Citizen . Reason? I have a foreign accent.
Perhaps you should carry a proof of your legal status, even though you are not required to. It may save you a lot of time.
