Flu in Australia

This United page, geared to H1N1 flu,

says:
"United's fare policies provide for changes without penalty for medical reasons. We encourage you to make decisions that best fit your travel needs."
Is this a policy change, stating that now all illness-related changes (accompanied by a "medical certificate" if requested) are free, or simply an arguably misleading way of saying "United's fare policies provide for changes without penalty (on some fare classes) for medical reasons?"
So what happens if someone is mid-trip in Australia and gets H1N1. I've read this entire thread and the linked UA page seems to deal only with Mexico. Headlines in today's Melbourne paper say 1/3 of everyone in Victoria may have the flu and I may be one of them. Does UA allow me to delay my flight until I get healthy (Z fare), without charge, or do I just crawl on board and share it with everyone?
