Problem redeeming points.


Hi all

My wife has 11,000 points in her account. I went to redeem 10,000 of these points for 2,000 miles using Hilton's online redemption feature but after selecting 'reddem a reward' then 'reward exchange' then 'American Airlines' then 'exchange 10,000 points for 2,000 miles' then 'redeem'
I get the following message

We're Sorry,

An error has occurred in the system, and we are unable to process your request at this time. The error has been recorded and will be investigated by the system administrator. We apologize for this inconvenience. You may contact the HHonors Customer Service Center nearest you for assistance, or call 1-800-HHONORS.

Any idea on why this is occurring? Have others had this difficulty?
