Is it 'for sure' that EDS is not also contracted to handle the design, development and maintence of in-house systems?
Either way, this is sloppy beyond belief - and the fact that this is not the first (or even second) time CO.com has flamed out during business hours/days is a clear indication that CO IT management is asleep at the wheel.
Wherever I've worked, had something like this happened and been attributed to human error, people would have been shown the door, including senior management. I've never encountered a company of this size who allows their key ecomm customer portal to go down willy-nilly like this.
