Extremely cold window seat in exit row
Last night on AA 757 BOS-SFO I was in 18A. I'm usually an aisle person, but have had the window exit row seat for sleeping purposes my last 4 segments. As SeatGuru points out, the exit row does tend to be chilly, so I was prepared. But last night was really cold. Fortunately I had a thick 8X12 text book along as well as the pillow and blanket for insulation, so was not too bothered. But I wonder if this is within the realm of "normal"? I could feel a draft of air that seemed to be coming into the cabin around the gasket of the window. This would seem to be impossible given air should move from higher to lower pressure area. I did notice the wall panel just in front of my left foot was seperated (and the tape used to jerry-rig it had also failed). I'm sure this was only cosmetic, but maybe had something to do with the air flow. On descent I noticed a sheen on the aft upright frame the exit window fit into, and when I touched it, much to my surprise, it was ice! Granted, thin ice that melted with just holding finger to it, but, wow! Maybe my book saved me from thigh frostbite. After landing, I also had several drops of water hit me on left arm and hand, couldn't see exact source. Has anyone experienced this? I'm headed for ZRH next month (a redeye) and might want to consider wearing my insulated covies, lol.
