Seeing as how regular elites struggle with transcon upgrades, getting them for companions doesn't seem too likely. Still, I've gotten them plenty of times where there were others on the waitlist and making someone my companion moved them into a trump position. So even when F went out full the companion benefit has paid off for me. Not always, but enough for me.
