It's probably not as bad as I've made it sound, but if you have big feet, it might be.

Not bad at all. One of the best parts - for me at least - was the large shelf where I could rest things like newspapers, books, etc.

I'd definitely choose the new ones. Even if you don't recline all the way, they's more comfortable, and the direct aisle access is really nice.

I was in 9D.

skoker mentioned the "super secret controls" under the seat, and I think I saw a few FAs fiddling with those during the flight, but the FA I asked didn't seem to know anything, so I didn't bother again.
