I have stayed at the Downtown twice but not the Eastside. I was only Silver at the time so have no experience of the CL (and as others have pointed out, this would be closed over a weekend anyway).

Location-wise, we found it very easy to get around using the subway. We got a 5-day pass for our stay. The hotel is a couple of blocks from Rector Street station which is served by the 1, R and W lines - all of which offer a direct route to Times Square in 10-15 mins. The area is quiet at weekends but we rather enjoyed being away from the razzle dazzle!

We found the staff to be pretty superb on both occasions - really friendly and helpful.
