All,
Some initial thoughts (I'm sitting in the bar of the Hilton WDW at an internet terminal writing this !)
I checked in at 9pm and was already allocated rooms in the Towers area of the hotel. It may have helped that I requested an upgrade at time of booking, phoned later to confirm, and also sent a fax direct to the hotel - I wasn't leaving anything to chance !!
Note that I'm a Gold VIP, and one of the rooms was on Hhonors points, with the other @ $149 per night rate.
Good check in experience - quick and efficient, with the minimum of fuss.
Rooms - 10th (top) floor - Initial impression as with previous posts - good, had all that I would expect, but nothing spectacular. We didn't have a view of the parks - I will let you know the best room numbers to ask for in a subsequent mail.
Exec lounge on 9th floor is quite small and can get rather crowded with what seems like the whole hotel having access at times !! There are about 25 or so seats which can be way too little in the morning. As before, the breakfast buffet is well worth having, and saves time & money before you hit the parks. However, later in the evening, there are snacks from 5pm & these aren't anything to write home about - the standard of the cooked snacks is poor.
Transportation (free bus) to MGM on our first day was good - timely and relatively quick.
Food & drinks in the hotel are expensive, as you would expect, so use the Supermarket "Goodings" which is a 24hr one, for all your food requirements.
Pools are quite good, if a little small.
Further details to follow - thunderstorms today, so spending time in the Outlets & Movies.
Tune in next week for the continuing story ....
