Has anyone booked a standard room and upgraded at checkin with a discrete/nominal cash incentive for the friendly and efficient front desk person?

If so, what would be a reasonable incentive for a king-suite with view and jacuzzi?

The best rates I've found are:

Standard Room: 110USD plus tax per nite.

Deluxe King: 192USD plus tax per nite.

I'm staying 4 nites over Canada Day, 2009.
