Why would they charge a tourist for bringing their own hockey stick into the country?

Seriously though, you will not have a problem. The only people they are interested in are Argentines and residents bringing stuff back, particularly electronic stuff. Never have my friends/family been stopped or questioned entering the country as a tourist with laptops, cameras etc. With me, they normally ask if I am a tourist or not and as soon as I say I live here, they take a more active interest in what I have in my bags! I don't have the balls to lie in case they then ask to see my passport which is littered with permanent residency stamps!
