They might not notice the one year problem, and, in my experience, once they agree to a ticketing change, they'll honor it, even if they subsequently discover that the change violates a rule.
If I'm reading it right, the OP's issue is not with moving the HKG-JNB flight, it's with the fact that his ticketed first flight on his next RTW is on the 7th and if he wants the First class cabin on HKG-JNB, he won't get there in time.
