An almost identical story was in the Seattle PI some time ago.

Just to keep perspective on some of the comments here; Washington Mutual has grown very, very quickly in the past several years. Combine the challenge of integrating several different companies, cultures and systems with the unprecedented refinance boom and you’re going to run into problems. Washington Mutual admits there were servicing and customer service issues and says they’re taking steps to improve.
