Hotel rooms in Spain for family of four?

I am in the process of looking for hotels for a 10 day trip to Spain in July. So far, I have not found a single hotel that has a room that can house a family of four (2 adults, 2 kids ages 6 & 8). The cities I have been looking in are Granada and Valencia. Many allow a child to stay in a room with an extra bed for a nominal fee or even no fee. However, the max. extra beds always seems to be one.

Is there something I'm missing? How do other families with 2 young children handle this? Are adjoining rooms common?

I suppose I will just need to book two rooms and hope they are adjoining or at least adjacent. Otherwise I suppose my wife and I will have to split in separate rooms with one kid each.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.
