I have to say I like the Hilton London Paddington. I like the decor (Great Western Railway epoch - Deco) and the service has been nice this time (I'm writing this from the single computer in the Lounge just now.)
Check-in in the new lounge overlooking the Paddington Station was uncomplicated and welcoming, the 5th floor King room is spacious and decorated in the same line as Steam, the lobby, etc. and had a small box of chocolates, two bottles each of sparkling and still mineral water, and the usual Crabtree & Evelyn amenitii, slippers and robe.
It's easy to get to / from using the Underground (unless it's the weekend the Circle Line is not operating, then the District is packed!) like this weekend, and one can choose the Heathrow Connect or Heathrow Express (the former at about half the HEX price, iirc, and it takes not quite twice as long - but if you have 25 minutes, it's worth a second look. (BTW, taking photos of Isambard, or Paddington Bear, is now apparently as much of a crime as taking a liter bottle through airport security - a lot of hullabaloo from the staffers! Yes, I understand terrorism, but photos of kids and Paddington Bear are threatening how?)
