When I took a DUB bump (2004) I got put on CO to CDG and then AF back up to DUB. They will try for SkyTeam partners first but will do what they can with what inventory is available. You can ask about the BF upgrade as part of the deal, but I would not expect one; they seem to guard that pretty heavily.
That's what I am hoping -- to be on a flight to CDG then to DUB if CO bump me. As of this time, I checked again with the reservation agent and again, I was told the flight is sold out in both First and Economy. Can I volunteer ahead of time when I check in for the 1st segment? I read somewhere that CO is developing a system that prompts passengers if the would like to volunteer for the flights that they are on.
