I've had some very good island beef on Kauai (seemed slightly gamey & very lean) and pretty good stuff on Maui too... To find the local beef on the islands, you need to go to a local store (not Safeway)... Kauai had a couple good ones - sometimes Foodland carried it, and it seemed it was irregular on what cuts of beef you would find. Longs on Maui had local beef too... but never found the shortribs I adore... visiting KOA in June and can't wait to try their beef... mmm...

(Have no international dining experience but have had several exotic meats in Alaska - moose, caribou, beaver, seal, whale )
