I know I sound paranoid but usually I am the complete opposite.

Here in Ireland it is very unusual for a hotels to be pet friendly. If I thought it was only a case of seeing the odd animal passing through then I would have no hesitation in booking it. I just would not like to have animals in a breakfast room for instance or around a pool area.
